I also wrote about book #2 in the Castle Knoll series and you can snoop on my thoughts here

From the smoky clubs of 1960s Soho to the uptight galleries of modern West London, two murders decades apart are about to make themselves known.

1968: Frances Adams is swept into a glittering new life alongside magnetic socialite Vera Huntington. Until Vera is soon found dead with her heart surgically removed.

Present day: Annie Adams abruptly travels to London to see her mother and instead finds a body in an alley with… guess what…. her heart surgically removed!

Annie has solved murders before (unfortunately), but this one feels personal. As threats begin circling her mother, it becomes clear the past isn’t finished—and someone may be determined to turn history into a tradition.

A naive heiress who is great at following in her grandma’s footsteps and playing detective finds herself at the center of another chaotic mystery… but this time it’s threatening her mama! How will she and her romantic interest, who also happens to be a cop who helped her with past mysteries, solve this mystery before it’s too late??? Worry not, they’re going to figure it out.

Something I love about this series is Annie's ability to totally embody the spirit of a detective in the body of a citizen sleuth solving decades-old crimes and connecting them to her family. Seasoned investigators can't come close to what Annie's 20ish years of experience in living in the world can do.

It's a fun reminder to me that it is possible to do anything that is carried with passion and sheer will.

Getting a closer look at who Annie's mom is/was and how things have woven together to this point has been really enjoyable. I also enjoyed that this story took place out of Castle Knolls. I love Castle Knolls but it was exciting to get another view of this world.
